It’s easy to forget just how extraordinary birth is — until you remember this…

You are doing something radical, powerful, and deeply worthy of reverence.

And it’s easy to forget just how extraordinary birth is — until you remember what your body is actually doing:

  • Your uterus contracts with nearly 400 pounds of pressure during active labor — that’s like the weight of a motorcycle pushing down from the inside.
  • The pain of labor has been compared to breaking 20 bones at once. Let that sink in.
  • A vaginal birth can result in up to 500 mL of blood loss, while a c-section can mean 1,000 mL or more.
  • A c-section is major surgery, cutting through 7 layers of tissue, with real risks of infection, blood clots, and longer recovery.
  • Still — every single day — mothers do it. Over and over again.

Whether you go unmedicated, epidural, induction, or surgery…
You are superhuman.

And while most friends and family are talking about baby names
What to pack.
What to buy.
How to swaddle, soothe, and survive the first sleepless weeks.

But we want to talk about YOU, mama!

Because you are about to do something extraordinary.

The Most Natural, Miraculous Thing You'll Ever Do

Birth is natural.
Yes.

But that doesn’t mean it’s ordinary.

Your body is about to call on every cell, every muscle, every memory of the women who came before you.

It will stretch and open and roar in ways you never imagined.

This isn’t just biology—it’s bravery.

Whether you birth in a hospital bed, your living room, or the water—whether it’s a planned cesarean, an unmedicated labor, or something in between—what your body is about to do is nothing short of miraculous.

We’ve been conditioned to treat birth as a “means to an end.”
But this isn’t just the start of your baby’s life.
It’s the moment you become someone new, too.

So Let’s Train Like It Matters—Because It Does

If you were running a marathon, people would cheer for you

They’d bring you snacks.

They’d ask how your training was going.

You’d stretch.
You’d hydrate.
You’d prepare.

Birth deserves the same kind of reverence.

So this is your gentle reminder to honor yourself in these final weeks—not just by checking off your registry list, but by preparing yourself:

  • Stretch and move your body, not to stay “fit,” but to stay connected.
  • Learn to breathe deeply—yes, for labor, but also for the moments you’ll need to ground yourself after.
  • Nourish your body like it’s building a galaxy.
  • Get quiet. Talk to your baby. Listen to what your intuition is whispering.
  • And if you can—surround yourself with the people who help you feel calm, held, and seen. Your doula. Your partner. Your mother. Your chosen sisters. Your care team.

No Matter How You Birth—You’re Doing It Right

There is no perfect birth story.
No gold star for pain tolerance.
No failure in asking for help.

We’re not here to tell you how to do it.

We’re here to tell you: you’re already doing it.

You’re growing a whole human.
You’re navigating a hundred unknowns.
You’re showing up with love and courage every single day.

You, Mama, are a miracle.

And when the day comes—

May you feel strong.
May your doula (or partner, or nurse) whisper the right words.
May your breath stay steady.
May you remember that you are not alone.
May you meet yourself in your power.

And may your baby arrive in the exact way they are meant to— greeted by a mother who already knows what it means to love with her whole body.
