It started with spit-up, no sleep, and a zipper that wouldn’t work.
A moment every mom knows: standing in front of the mirror, trying to nurse a baby, juggle a toddler, and somehow live a new life in a body that doesn’t quite feel like yours anymore.

Necessity is the mother of invention.
And motherhood? It creates a lot of necessity.

That’s how We Are Amma began.

From Mesh Underwear to Motherhood Magic

Back in 2017, just two weeks postpartum , I found myself in the thick of it—tired, leaking, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to get dressed for the day, let alone for breastfeeding in public. What I craved wasn’t just function—I wanted to feel like me again. Nothing felt right, too frumpy, too PJ-like and none of my pre-baby wardrobe worked for breastfeeding.

2019: When we shipped out the very first Cocoons, it wasn’t just about launching a product. It was about creating a moment of ease in a season that rarely offers it. The Cocoon™ was our first answer to a simple but overlooked question:
“Can I feed my baby without sacrificing my sense of self?”

I wanted to feed with ease anywhere - whether on a zoom or a dinner out with friends - I wanted choices that I could make in that moment.

What the Cocoon Really Means

We named it the Cocoon™ to honor the transformation that happens when you become a mama.

Just like the quiet magic that happens inside an actual cocoon, those early feeds—often in the dark, in the car, at the café, anywhere—are a sacred space between mother and baby. They’re soft, raw, unfiltered. And powerful.

I know I’m not a mom myself, but a you know I’ve been lucky to walk alongside so many amazing ones, and one thing I’ve learned is how important it is to be surrounded by calm, supportive, loving people, especially in those early days. You don’t have to do any of this alone. Not even close.

So here’s what I want you to know and truly feel: you’ve got us. My family is your family in this.

My mom and I would love to include you and your hubs in our meal rhythm for that first month. We’ll make extra of what we’re already cooking and bring you dinner every few days. No pressure, no fuss. I’ll swap out containers so you don’t have to think about dishes or cooking smells or any of that. Just warm food, ready when you need it.

And on Sundays, since we’re already doing our grocery run, my mom is more than happy to pick up anything you need. It genuinely isn’t any trouble since you're literally my neighbor now (it still makes me giddy).

I really believe in doing this as a community. You deserve to feel supported, cared for, and held up in this season.

Also… I’m giving you something small that I’ve made a tradition out of for all the new moms in my life. You'll recognize it. I love LOVE this dress, and wish it existed when I had my first kid! It's easy to nurse and pump in, and looks and feels very stylish but comfortable. I wore it all day for a professional conference, and it was perfect for pumping in while looking and feeling put together. I will definitely be buying it on black as well!

It's been with me through several seasons. From the mall to the beach. And even with someone sitting next to me and rays of sunlight directly overhead, they can't see ANYTHING that's going on in there. My Cocoon is the one thing that has to come with me on every outing with or without my child because sometimes I have to pump. It's almost like MY security blanket, except it's light and fashionable. The babe loves to play with the fabric when she's on my chest, and sometimes she's not even in there feeding, just taking a break from the outside world or playing peek-a-boo. She snuggles with it when my husband puts her down to sleep because it smells like me. I also use it to cover her from the sun. The Cocoon has come with me hand-in- hand through this stage of my life, and we love it.

Just like you Mama, the cocoon does it all! A master multitasker, is more than a nursing cover. I bought my olive cocoon when my son was born 2 years ago. Now that I have a daughter, I since then bought three more (natural, honey and black) and heavily eyeing the desert rose color. I use it for a car seat and stroller cover, a cape and scarf, and even a toddler poncho for my son. My most highly recommended Mama gift for any mama! I adore all of mine ❤️

Have had cocoon for over 4 years now! It has held up not only through my pregnancy and breastfeeding journey but both my sisters as well all shared. I bought this Cocoon for my baby's first international flight. He was 8 months at the time, and he would get very distracted while nursing, but he'd also overheat, so I needed something to block his view, give me some privacy, and keep him cool. The Cocoon was perfect! It still is a staple piece in my diaper bag. Originally, the Cocoon wasn't going to come in time for my trip due to an order backlog, so I reached out to customer service, and they were able to get the Cocoon to me in time. Not only is this product great, but the people behind it really care as well. Worth every penny!
